Social Emotional Learning

City High School Students Connect Outdoors

By emphasizing social-emotional learning (SEL) at every step of the learning process, we create equitable learning environments where every student feels safe and valued.  Before students are able to learn, they need to have the capacity to understand themselves, those around them, and their world.  We support our learners to develop a skill set for self regulation, collaboration, and connection that will serve them well as they learn in the classroom and as they transition into adulthood.

We focus on SEL in our advisory program, but it is also integrated into everything we do.  We understand the science behind learning, and we know people cannot learn if they do not feel safe and valued, and if they do not have the social and emotional skill set to develop into their best selves.
